Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Site Designer in Chicago to design civil site work for substations and transmission projects, blending office drafting with on-site collaboration in a hybrid schedule (three days in the office, two days remote).

You will create 3D models, drawings, plans, and construction-ready packages, coordinate with engineers and project managers, perform peer reviews, and travel to client sites as needed to ensure timely, compliant designs.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or drafting credentials required.
• 10+ years in civil design on industrial, commercial, or power delivery projects.
• Experience with site grading, drainage, SWPPP/SPCC, and access road design.
• Experience preparing design packages for permits.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D or AutoTurn and MS Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Draft civil site work for substations and transmission projects.
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to ensure timely designs.
• Perform oversight and peer reviews for other civil designers.
