Job summary

Independence Blue Cross in the Philadelphia region seeks a Senior Accountant to join the Corporate Accounting team. You will support month-end close, GL analysis, and regulatory reporting while collaborating across departments to improve processes and controls.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of accounting experience, a BS/BA in accounting, and CPA progress toward certification. The role supports hybrid work in the Tri-State Area with opportunities for growth in a leading health insurer.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Accounting required or equivalent experience.
• Five+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Support internal management reporting and external GAAP/Statutory reporting.
• Assist with regulatory filings and compliance in health insurance.
• Conduct GL analyses to identify trends, variances, and corrective actions.
• Support intercompany, premium, medical claim cost, and other accounting activities.
• Collaborate with team to respond to inquiries on GL accounts and transactions.
• Ensure adherence to accounting guidance and policies.
• Assist external audits as a point of contact for assigned areas.
