Job summary

Montai Therapeutics, Inc. in Cambridge, MA, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to lead month-end close, develop and implement new accounting policies, and provide business insights to executives to measure company performance.

This role reports to the Controller and will partner to prepare budgets and forecasts, perform reconciliations, enhance financial reporting, and support the external audit and tax processes in a fast-growing biotechnology startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
• CPA and 2-3 years Big Four public accounting experience preferred.
• 1-2 years biotechnology or life sciences industry experience preferred.
• Substantial experience with GAAP financial reporting.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Detail-oriented personality and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with NetSuite a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end and quarter-end close tasks including journal entries per US GAAP.
• Conduct monthly/quarterly account reconciliations for accurate reporting.
• Review P&L accounts to resolve classification issues.
• Ensure timely completion of reconciliations, schedules and analyses.
• Assist with annual budget and monthly forecasts.
• Prepare month-end analytical reviews of actual versus budget/forecast.
• Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
• Support external audit and income tax provision processes.
• Assist with system implementations and process improvements.
