Job summary

Verizon GN&T Network Security team seeks a highly motivated Security Engineer with expertise in security detections, EDR, and data engineering to join the Network Security Foundational team. The role focuses on designing cutting-edge detections for petabyte-scale data and shaping our detection strategy to defend Verizon’s global network.

You will own the EDR ecosystem and SIEM visibility, work on Linux-based systems, and collaborate across teams to build scalable security solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field, or four+ years of work experience.
• Extensive background in overseeing EDR/XDR detections on a large scale.
• Experience managing Linux systems and network security tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize advanced security detections within the Splunk platform.
• Manage CrowdStrike deployments, tuning prevention policies, and perform forensic analysis.
• Develop detections on Linux systems and analyze security telemetry.
• Analyze, normalize and utilize data to identify security patterns.
• Build scripts to automate tasks and improve team efficiency.
