Job summary

AIMRO is seeking an apprenticeship-style intern to become a full-stack robotics AI engineer in Herndon, VA. You will work across perception, simulation, and robot integration to turn human demonstrations into robot actions, with hands-on access to cameras, robots, and data pipelines.

You’ll contribute to AI-assisted development, capture data, train models, and help build the lab’s technical stack. Hybrid onsite work is required near Herndon, with growth toward ownership of parts of the stack.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing CS, EE, ME, or robotics with interest in robotics and AI.
• Strong Python or C++ programming ability and hardware troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Linux and Windows, and hardware communication basics.

Responsibilities

• Assist end-to-end lab stack: perception, simulation, robot integration, capture and tooling.
• Develop and evaluate vision models using real and synthetic data.
• Collaborate on integrating cameras, grippers, and robot arms.
• Help document designs and contribute to hardware fixtures and mounts.
• Apply AI tools in daily workflow and contribute to the knowledge base.
