Job summary

University of Texas at Austin — Office of the Associate Dean for Research is seeking a Software Developer/Analyst to design, maintain, and improve secure information systems supporting research activities on the UT Austin campus.

The role bridges technical infrastructure and research operations, ensuring databases, web-based applications, and reporting tools are efficient, accurate, and aligned with project needs. A grant-funded position; start date Sep 2026; hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in systems analysis, design, and programming.
• Experience with PHP-based applications, Unix web hosting paradigms, and Unix command lines.
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks: AngularJS, jQuery, Node.J, Bootstrap, HTML and CodeIgniter.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and administer databases; create and maintain web-based information systems to support research needs.
• Document code, processes, and user documentation; communicate with internal and external clients.
• Maintain reliable information system infrastructure with standards and process improvements.
• Provide technical support and training to users; ensure data integrity and security.
• Create applications to produce data reports and ensure data/report accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
