Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, FL is seeking a Veteran Peer Support Specialist to provide recovery‑oriented support to individuals facing mental health and substance use concerns. The role leverages lived experience to connect patients with behavioral health resources and address Social Determinants of Health.

Based at the TGH Main Campus with a hybrid remote work option, the position offers ongoing training and a pathway to professional development in a supportive healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and mental health disorders.
• Certified Recovery Specialist certification required.

Responsabilités

• Use own experience of recovery to help others.
• Assist individuals in identifying and utilizing resources in the community for additional behavioral health, recovery, and SDOH support.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions and progress and maintain confidentiality of all personal.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal services that may provide resources to patients and families.
• Encourage self-advocacy among individuals to help them achieve their goals.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
• Assist patients in identifying and achieving their personal behavioral health goals, including recovery.
