Job summary

Aalyria in Livermore, CA is seeking an Embedded Controls Engineer to design, implement, test, and field the real-time closed-loop control for our wavefront-correction subsystem used in high-throughput atmospheric laser communications.

You will translate candidate control methods into low-latency embedded software, build labs and data-acquisition, and collaborate across optics, mechanical, electrical, software, and controls teams to deliver a robust, production-ready solution.

Qualifications

• Degree in EE, controls, CS, physics or related field.
• 3+ years real-time, closed-loop embedded control on hardware.
• Strong MATLAB/Simulink for design and simulation.
• Experience converting control laws to embedded C and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Implement wavefront-correction control laws and DSP in low-latency embedded C.
• Design lab testbeds and data acquisition to validate loop bandwidth and robustness.
• Reduce loop latency and improve control subsystem uptime.
• Develop control/telemetry software from concept to release.
• Support transition of prototype/test infrastructure to manufacturing.
• Collaborate with optical, mechanical, electrical, software, and controls engineers.
