Job summary

American Plastics, LLC is seeking an Industrial Design Engineer to join our team at the Jefferson City, Missouri Innovation Center. The role blends design ideation, optimization, and collaboration across engineering, sales, and manufacturing to deliver manufacturable plastic products.

Responsibilities include user research, concept development, and design communication using CAD tools. Hybrid or remote work options may be available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in industrial design engineering, preferably in injection molding or plastic product manufacturing.
• Creativity and innovation: ability to develop unique and functional product designs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct user research to analyze product usage and needs to develop initial design concepts and use cases.
• Support the product roadmap creation and innovation funnel.
• Collaborate with engineering, sales, marketing, manufacturing, and quality teams to bring designs to life.
• Develop concepts with sketches, renderings, and 3D CAD models.
• Participate in storyboarding and prototype development.
• Document design iterations, specifications, and engineering changes.
