Job summary

Optimum, a leading connectivity provider, seeks a DNS Engineer - SRE to design scalable and resilient DNS infrastructure powering our ISP and core networks. You’ll drive automation, observability, and secure DNS practices to ensure reliability for millions of users.

The role emphasizes cross-functional leadership with Product, Security, and Service Assurance teams, delivering carrier-grade DNS systems with strong DoH/DoT support while maintaining high availability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field.
• 5+ years in networking or systems engineering with SRE focus (automation, reliability, monitoring).
• DNS fundamentals: hands-on with at least two of BIND, Unbound, PowerDNS, AWS Route 53, or Azure DNS.
• Networking: TCP/IP (IPv4/IPv6) and DNSSEC; encrypted transport (DoH/DoT).
• Systems & automation: Linux/Unix admin; scripting with Python, Bash, or Go.
• Observability: Grafana and OpenTelemetry or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Architect global DNS architectures for high availability using Anycast, multi-provider redundancy, and automated failover.
• Serve as technical authority in DNS infrastructure vendor engagements and roadmaps.
• Oversee DNS platform lifecycle, automation deployments, hardware refreshes, and capacity planning.
• Define and enforce DNS policies, DNSSEC security, and traffic steering to reduce latency.
• Manage DoH/DoT deployment, DNS security, and DoS/DDoS mitigation.
• Develop automation to replace manual toil using Python, Ansible, Terraform; monitor with Prometheus.
