Job summary

SMBC Group in Charlotte, NC is seeking a skilled software engineer to design, build, and support risk-analysis applications using Python and React on Azure. You will develop full-stack solutions, APIs, and backend services deployed on Microsoft Azure, with a focus on reliability and scalability.

The role requires 4+ years of Python development, a Bachelor's in CS or equivalent, and hands-on experience with Django/Flask/FastAPI, SQL, and Azure services.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development with Python.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Back-end: Django, Flask, or FastAPI experience.
• Data: SQL queries and data analysis tasks.
• Cloud / Infrastructure: Microsoft Azure services including App Service, Functions, Containers, Storage.
• DevOps: CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Tools: GitHub, VS Code, and modern development environments.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication across teams.
• Nice to have: Azure Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake), risk management knowledge, observability with OpenTelemetry, AI tools in development processes.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable web applications using Python frameworks such as Django and front-end tooling like React.
• Design and develop APIs and backend services that support data-driven use cases.
• Deploy and manage applications on Microsoft Azure, including App Service, Functions, Containers, Storage, SQL, and Databricks.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and tracing using Azure Monitor and Application Insights.
• Improve application performance, reliability, and security across the stack.
• Lead incident response efforts and perform root cause analysis to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
• Automate build, test, and deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to consistent engineering practices.
