Job summary

UTMB Health seeks a Supervisor, Purchasing to provide operational leadership, procurement oversight, and technical guidance for a team of buyers. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Health Care Administration, Supply Chain, or a relevant field.
• Three years of related experience with two years in a lead/supervisory level.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Must obtain professional credentials (C.P.S.M., C.P.P.B, C.P.P.O, C.T.C.M., or equivalent) within 18 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the assigned purchasing team, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant processing of requisitions and purchase orders (POs).
• Oversee requisition reviews and approvals, validating alignment with contracts and policies before execution.
• Monitor team workload, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources to maintain procurement continuity and service levels.
• Ensure customer needs are met through prompt communication and proactive support.
• Develop a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement within the purchasing team.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency and reduce waste.
