Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DOE Q-level clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical, optical, or electromagnetic engineering concepts.
  • Fundamental knowledge of electromagnetic wave physics and RF/microwave engineering.
  • Knowledge of signal processing, image processing, or numerical methods (Python or MATLAB).
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power supplies, network analyzers, waveform generators, coaxial cables, fiber-optic components, or digital multimeters).
  • Ability to travel offsite for testing.

Responsibilities

  • Design, test, calibrate, and operate optical and RF diagnostics for pulsed power experiments.
  • Develop and evaluate diagnostic components and systems.
  • Perform hands-on lab testing and collect data from high-voltage and pulsed power systems.
  • Analyze experimental data using signal-processing, image-processing, and numerical methods.
  • Prepare engineering documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts, assembly instructions, calibration procedures, and technical reports.
  • Apply simulation tools to evaluate electromagnetic and diagnostic design problems.
  • Travel as needed to support off-site testing.
