Job summary

DTE Energy in Detroit, MI is seeking an experienced project engineer to support senior engineers in planning, prioritizing, scheduling, and implementing major construction and engineering projects.

You will initiate scope, develop preliminary design schedules and estimates, and chair regular update meetings on scope, budgets, and schedules. This is an individual contributor role with opportunities to advance within the utility sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology or construction management.
• 3 years of experience in engineering, project management, or capital infrastructure projects.
• Preferred: project/outage management in a utility setting.
• PMI/PMP certificate encouraged.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Other requirements include ability to manage multiple priorities and lead meetings.

Responsibilities

• Interface to resolve engineering design problems.
• Direct project scope initiation, develop preliminary schedule and cost estimates.
• Collaborate in preliminary estimating, risk identification, and planning.
• Review and authorize design packages including scope reviews and estimates.
• Ensure design schedule adherence and monitor engineering costs.
• Chair project scope development meetings and provide status updates.
