Job summary

Vylor Inc. seeks a Project Engineer in Johnston, IA to lead engineering activities across the project lifecycle, coordinating design, procurement, and construction while managing schedule and cost forecasting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in project development and execution.
• Travel varies by time of year and could be more than 40% during busy construction activities.
• Strong facilitation and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to influence multiple levels of the organization; able to take a hands-on approach in training and execution.
• Experience managing contractors, vendors, and external engineering resources
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and technical documents.
• Working knowledge of process safety management (PSM) and management of change (MOC) principles.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to evaluate technical and business impacts.
• Knowledge of industrial construction methods, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to develop project plans and designs that comply with codes and Vylor standards.
• Review contractor estimates, monitor spending, and support project cost control.
• Assist in developing project schedules and coordinate activities with contractors and plant personnel to meet milestones.
• Oversee construction activities to ensure safety and quality standards.
• Facilitate clear communication among project teams, contractors, engineers, suppliers, and plant personnel.
• Identify and resolve technical, logistical, and operational challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review submittals, drawings, and change orders; maintain project records including closeout documentation.
• Ensure compliance with codes, permits, and local requirements.
• Support maintenance and improvement of Vylor Engineering Standards.
