Job summary

Vylor Inc. in Johnston, IA is seeking a Project Engineer to lead engineering activities from design through execution. The role coordinates engineering, procurement, and construction, supports scheduling and cost forecasting, and maintains change management processes in a hybrid in-office Tue–Thu, with remote Mon and Fri environment.

The position requires a B.S. in Mechanical, Agricultural, Construction or Chemical Engineering and 5+ years of project development experience.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in project development and execution.
  • Travel varies by time of year and could be more than 40% during busy construction activities.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  • Experience managing contractors, vendors, and external engineering resources.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and technical documents.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers to develop project plans and designs that comply with codes, RAGAGEP, and Vylor Engineering Standards.
  • Review contractor estimates, monitor spending, and support project cost control.
  • Assist in developing project schedules and coordinate activities with contractors and plant personnel to meet milestones.
  • Oversee construction activities to ensure safety and quality compliance.
  • Facilitate clear communication among project teams, contractors, engineers, suppliers, and plant personnel.
  • Identify and resolve technical, logistical, and operational challenges throughout the lifecycle.
  • Review submittals, drawings, change orders, and maintain records including closeout and as-builts.
