Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Project Accountant to handle project setup, billing, and accounts receivable within our Corporate Finance team. The role reports to the Project Accounting Supervisor and supports domestic and international projects.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of project cost accounting experience, strong MS Excel and Adobe Acrobat skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Hybrid work from downtown Chicago is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or associate degree with at least 3 years of project cost accounting experience.
• 4+ years of experience in project accounting.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Adobe Acrobat required.
• Strong data entry and detail-oriented with fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication; ability to handle confidential data.
• Experience with foreign currency billing and Workday is a plus.
• Open to occasional overtime and multi-project prioritization.

Responsibilities

• Set up customers, projects, contracts, and inter‑company billing in Costpoint.
• Handle multi-currency billing, foreign taxes, withholding, and retention.
• Assist with monthly inter‑company billing processing.
• Ensure accuracy of bill preparation and alignment with client terms.
• Prepare invoice packages for project managers and submit to clients.
• Maintain project invoice/billing files and related documents.
• Perform project closeout and GL reconciliations.
• Research and resolve billing and payment discrepancies.
• Take on additional billing duties as assigned.
