Job summary

King County Education Specialist on the Harborview Sexual Health Clinic PrEP team provides education and referral for HIV/STI/PrEP services. This hybrid, in-person with some telework, role focuses on diverse communities and equity in health access in King County, based in Seattle.

Responsibilities include conducting educational programs, outreach to priority populations, coordinating care, and ensuring confidentiality in accordance with regulations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HIV/STI transmission, risks and prevention strategies.
• Ability to clearly communicate medical information.
• Experience with motivational interviewing and risk reduction strategies.
• Familiarity with EHR systems and client data confidentiality.
• Strong written and verbal communication across diverse audiences.
• Ability to coordinate care and liaise with partners.

Responsibilities

• Conduct educational programs for staff, clients, community groups, and professionals on HIV/STI/PrEP topics.
• Promote culturally appropriate health beliefs and language access for participants referred to care.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to assess needs and remove barriers to service delivery.
• Provide health education technical assistance and support to staff, partner organizations, and the public.
• Conduct outreach to priority populations within King County.
• Inform patients about health risks and develop plans to reduce HIV/STI risk.
• Investigate factors for PrEP discontinuation among HIV-negative individuals at risk.
• Maintain confidentiality of all records and information as required by regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
