Job summary

The NC Chamber is seeking a Communications Manager in Raleigh, NC, to lead strategy and execution for External Affairs across Infrastructure, Growth, and agriculture initiatives. This hybrid, full-time role collaborates across teams to translate policies into clear messages.

Ideal candidate writes exceptionally well, can manage multiple priorities, and works with leadership to advance the organization's priorities. Knowledge of NC's business climate and government affairs is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, political science, English, or related field.
• Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public affairs, journalism or related fields.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and strategic communications skills.
• Ability to translate complex policy and research into clear messages for diverse audiences.
• Experience in government affairs, public affairs, infrastructure, agriculture, or related policy areas preferred.
• Familiarity with North Carolina's business landscape and legislative process preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead communications strategy and execution for NC Chamber priorities, focusing on Infrastructure and Growth and agriculture.
• Develop messaging and plans to elevate the NC Chamber's voice on business issues.
• Translate complex policy and research into clear communications for diverse audiences.
• Create content across channels: articles, newsletters, talking points, web content, op-eds, media materials.
• Collaborate with leadership, Foundation, and external teams to align communications.
• Prepare talking points, speeches, presentations, and briefing materials for organizational leaders.
• Support media outreach and prepare leaders for external opportunities.
• Lead communications for NC Chamber Foundation initiatives, research releases, and fundraising efforts.
• Ensure content adheres to AP Style and NC Chamber brand standards.
