Job summary

SCAN Group is seeking a Senior Manager, Platform Engineering to lead the hybrid infrastructure and platform engineering org spanning on-prem data centers, Azure/AWS cloud, DevOps, SRE, automation, and observability. This role combines people leadership, technical leadership, and TPM while driving modernization, cloud adoption, and platform reliability.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
12-18+ years of progressive technology experience across infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering.
5+ years in engineering leadership or management.
Preferred certifications in Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, VMware, Terraform, ITIL, or TPM/PM.
Strong Technical Program Management with roadmap, planning, governance and exec reporting.
Hands-on data center ops including servers, SAN/storage, networking, and lifecycle management.
Strong Azure cloud platform expertise (App Services, Function Apps, Azure SQL, Storage/Blob, Entra ID, Azure Monitor).
Deep understanding of DevOps/SRE: reliability, incident mgmt, SLIs/SLOs, automation, toil reduction.
Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes/AKS/EKS, CI/CD, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins.
Strong observability across metrics/logs/traces with Grafana, Datadog, Azure Monitor, CloudWatch.
Hands-on AI/ML in operations: anomaly detection, predictive scaling, automated root-cause analysis.
Experience with DR/BCP, high availability, RTO/RPO, backup and recovery, failover, DR testing.
Security & compliance: NIST, CIS, SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001.
People-management, vendor mgmt, budgeting, capacity planning, and exec communication.
Leadership: develop managers and align teams to goals.
Problem solving, strategic mindset, and strong cross-team communication.

Responsibilities

Lead Platform Engineering, Infrastructure, Cloud, DevOps, and SRE teams and mentoring.
Provide leadership across a hybrid on-prem and cloud environment.
Drive modernization, migrations across data centers and cloud.
Establish IAM, IaC, CI/CD, automation, and observability practices.
Lead AIOps adoption for reliability and proactive incident response.
Own platform availability, reliability, scalability, and performance.
Drive DR/BCP strategy, backup, resiliency testing and recovery.
Lead programs from strategy to execution with roadmaps and milestones.
Coordinate initiatives across Infrastructure, Networking, Security, Architecture, Apps, vendors, stakeholders.
Communicate program status and risks to leadership.
