Job summary

Kleinfelder, a multidisciplinary engineering firm, seeks a Pipeline Designer for our Detroit, MI office with hybrid work options. You will develop drawings and exhibits for natural gas distribution projects, including retrofits, hydrotests, and alignment sheets, while coordinating with engineers and other teams.

The role requires at least 4 years’ experience, CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, Civil 3D/Plant 3D or CAD Worx), and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or CAD certification required.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD required.
• Experience with Civil 3D, Plant 3D or CAD Worx required.
• ArcGIS understanding preferred.
• Proficient use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Use the latest CAD software to prepare design drawings with plan, section, detail views, isometrics and schematics as directed by engineers.
• Prepare sketches of details not in existing drawings to reflect field conditions.
• Create drawings, maps, and lists based on direction from lead drafters and engineers.
• Produce pipeline alignment sheets, exhibits and permit drawings for projects.
• Provide quality control for practicality and constructability of designs.
• Maintain project communication and meet deadlines with clients and internal teams.
