Job summary

Universal Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Utilization Management Case Manager- Per Diem (Hybrid) for Metropolitan Behavioral Hospital in Dearborn, MI. The role centers on organizing and conducting the managed care process, including admission and continued stay reviews and collaboration with clinical teams.

The ideal candidate will verify medical necessity, support discharge planning, and liaise with MD/Clinical Treatment Team and external agencies to minimize denials and optimize hospital

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling or nursing, or a master's in a related health field is highly desirable.
• Unrestricted or licensed (LBSW, RN, LMSW, LLP, LP, LPC, LMFT, etc.)
• Two (2) years of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness.

Responsibilities

• Organize and conduct the managed care process for admissions and continued stay reviews.
• Use approved criteria to determine medical necessity and level of care.
• Assist discharge planning with the treatment team and coordinate with external agencies.
• Report authorizations and denials; collaborate across departments to minimize denials and optimize hospital resources.

Education

Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling or nursing

Master's degree in social work or counseling or similar health sciences field
