The Davey Tree Expert Company in Kent, OH seeks a full-time Payroll Specialist. Training will be in-office at the Kent corporate office, after which the role moves to a hybrid schedule.

The position offers $25 hourly and a path to growth within a large, employee-owned firm. You will maintain payroll data, prepare checks, administer certified payroll, handle garnishments, union reporting and payroll tax transfers, and assist audits.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Proficiency in Excel and maintaining confidentiality in payroll operations.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team with professional staff.
• Attention to detail and accuracy, with discretion in handling sensitive data.
• Experience with payroll processing is preferred; SAP R/3 knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintains payroll information by collecting and entering data.
• Prepare checks for mailing and distribution.
• Administering certified payroll.
• Garnishments/child support orders.
• Union reporting.
• Processing of payroll tax transfers.
• Daily payroll related duties.
• Responding to phone inquiries.
• Assist with audits by providing document research.
