Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a positive, outgoing Communications and Digital Content Assistant to support photography, videography, video editing, graphic design, and social media content creation for the Division of Community Engagement and the Mary and Frances Youth Center.

The role requires in-office and on-site work at community locations, including the VCU HealthHub and Mary and Frances Youth Center.

Qualifications

Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including writing, editing, and proofreading.
Self-motivated, strategic, creative, entrepreneurial, and energetic.
Flexibility and willingness to perform a wide range of tasks as necessary.
Problem-solving skills using sound judgment and professional discretion.
Strong work ethic and time management skills.

Responsibilities

Photography & Videography: Capture photos and videos of community engagement activities and events.
Video Editing: Edit short-form videos using Adobe Premiere for social media and newsletters.
Graphic Design: Design marketing materials using Canva templates for brand consistency.
Social Media Management: Create and schedule content for social platforms.
Content Creation: Develop engaging digital content for social media, newsletters, and web.
On-Site Engagement: Interact professionally with community members and staff while documenting events.
Administrative Support: Organize digital assets and update content.
