Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center is seeking a PACS Specialist to manage daily PACS operations, image transfer, and RIS validation within a hybrid imaging services environment. This role requires coordinating technical PACS initiatives, training staff, and ensuring security and uptime across systems.

The position entails 60% remote work and 40% onsite in Wisconsin, with occasional after-hours work for upgrades or outages and on-call duties about four times per year.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in radiologic technology or related field.
• Typically requires 5 years of experience in imaging services, PACS administration or related imaging technology.
• Exceptional understanding of information systems supporting imaging technology.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of PACS equipment including data transfer, RIS validation, archiving and routing.
• Plan and coordinate technical aspects of the PACS network and equipment and communicate changes to staff.
• Respond to inquiries, troubleshoot problems, and alert users to downtime or upgrades.
• Develop and implement training programs for staff on PACS and related applications.
• Coordinate with Information Services on security, backups, and access control; manage PACS access.
• Install system upgrades with IS, assist in testing software changes, and maintain PACS policies and procedures.
• Review system feedback, analyze support data, and recommend improvements to maintain quality standards.
• Recommends equipment modifications and manages contractual services as needed.
