Job summary

Vertex invites students in Packaging Sciences or Packaging Engineering to join a 6‑month packaging co‑op as part of their Technical Operations team in Boston. You will participate in packaging development, production processes, and supplier coordination, gaining hands-on experience across cross‑functional teams.

The role offers a Hybrid/On‑Site arrangement, a paid hourly rate of $25–$35, and comprehensive benefits as part of Vertex’s intern program.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Packaging Sciences or Packaging Engineering, or another related field
• Interests in pursuing a career in pharmaceutical packaging
• Preferred experience with CAD software (Artios, Solid Works)
• Strong written communication skills
• Experience with MS Office applications (Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
• Planning and organizational skills
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; Vertex does not sponsor internships/co-ops
• Must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before June 2027
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week from January–June 2027

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of plans, designs, data collection methods, and reports
• Create materials and tools to support process improvement initiatives, including project intake tool development
• Conduct process-mapping sessions to support the project intake tool
• Test primary and secondary packaging components for 2024 product launches; draft review reports
• Meet virtually with existing Contract Manufacturers and Material Suppliers
