Job summary

Withum is seeking an Outsourced Accounting Lead Consultant for our Buffalo, NY office. This hybrid role (3 days in office) leads a team servicing diverse industries, overseeing AP, payroll, month-end close and audits. Strong leadership, client service, and GAAP knowledge are essential.

The position offers a salary range of $85,000–$95,000 with a competitive benefits package and bonus program. CPA or MBA preferred; Sage Intacct/QuickBooks Online and Excel proficiency are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
• CPA preferred and/or MBA equivalent
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership and review responsibilities
• Demonstrated client service experience with outsourced accounting, advisory, public accounting, or consulting
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for presenting financial results to non-finance stakeholders
• Experience with Sage Intacct and/or QuickBooks Online; strong Excel proficiency
• Experience with construction, manufacturing, distribution and oilfield service industries preferred
• Strong knowledge of month-end close, GAAP financial statements, reconciliations and internal controls
• Proven ability to lead teams, collaborate cross-functionally and build client relationships

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a team; assign work and provide coaching
• Oversee accounts payable workflows and vendor/contractor payments
• Review payroll processing and filings with client HR/payroll providers
• Lead month-end close and reconcile general ledger
• Review and approve journal entries and supporting details
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve variances
• Support budgeting, cash flow forecasting and analytics for clients
• Partner with client leadership as day-to-day contact; communicate risks and recommendations
• Coordinate external reviews and annual audits; manage auditor requests and deliverables
• Strengthen internal controls and streamline close and reporting processes across AP, AR, payroll and GL
