Job summary

Community Hospital is seeking a healthcare billing professional with oncology and clinical trials experience to coordinate payor determinations and ensure accurate reimbursements. You will review payments, analyze denials, update codes for oncology procedures, and participate in policy improvements.

The role requires AHIMA/AAPC certification and potentially SOCRA—hybrid work arrangement; relocation to Grand Junction, CO is possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Science, healthcare or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of inpatient/outpatient coding experience or equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Certification in AHIMA or AAPC (RHIT and/or CCS) is required.
• SOCRA certification within 6 months of eligibility (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with internal departments and external facilities to determine the appropriate payor for services.
• Review payments for Oncology services to ensure proper reimbursement from payers.
• Review Oncology/Research denials and coordinate appeals with Business Office teams.
• Review and update HCPCS codes as they relate to Oncology.
• Participate in hospital-wide coding and charge master meetings.
• Act as Subject Matter Expert and internal monitor for research billing compliance.
• Collaborate with Financial Services to finalize coding and billing.
• Provide CPT codes for all billable study procedures.
• Manage Medicare Coverage Analysis for GVO Clinical Trials.
• Define and improve processes to ensure quality and efficiency in Oncology and Research Billing.
• Liaise on Oncology/Research billing questions and escalations.
