Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Data Protection Engineer to support enterprise IT in a mission-critical, on-premises environment, focusing on administration, maintenance, and optimization of backup and recovery solutions using Commvault to ensure data availability and compliance.

This hybrid role requires at least three days onsite and may transfer to Washington, DC or Beltsville, MD, with the option to choose location later.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; 14+ years of relevant experience, masters considered with 12+ years
• Hands-on experience with enterprise data protection systems in on-premises environments
• Experience with backup architectures and disaster recovery concepts
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• US Citizenship and ability to obtain a top secret clearance

Responsibilities

• Administer and support on-premises Commvault data protection platforms
• Monitor daily backup operations and ensure timely issue resolution
• Perform data backup, restoration, and DR operations for physical and virtual environments
• Maintain backup infrastructure, including servers, media agents, and storage
• Develop and enforce backup policies and DR procedures
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure and compliant operations
• Support audit readiness and provide documentation and reporting
• Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support
