The New York Times is seeking an Operations Manager to join Newsroom Operations. You will provide hands-on support and oversight of logistics for multiple desks, events, and day-to-day operations, ensuring deadlines are met and resources run smoothly.

This role is hybrid with four in-office days weekly, with potential five days during peak cycles. You will collaborate with masthead, reporters, finance, HR, and vendors to coordinate travel, budgets, onboarding, and staffing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in an operational or administrative role.
• Ability to drive projects forward.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience dealing with detailed and confidential concerns.
• Able to maintain urgency with a proactive mindset.
• Available after hours or weekends when required.
• Impeccable organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work with all levels of management and staff.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary operational contact for masthead, department heads, and journalists, resolving roadblocks.
• Coordinate on-site events, including mock elections, team gatherings, and catering logistics.
• Oversee equipment setups and ensure functioning tools for desks and coverage teams.
• Assist with annual budgets, monthly closes, and financial reporting in Workday.
• Manage staff schedules, time banks, and payroll-related transfers.
