Job summary

Verizon is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to join the Network Security Defense team. You’ll manage real-time threat monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management across core, edge, and access networks with SIEM tools like Splunk.

The role emphasizes building robust security architectures, IAM with MFA, and secure telemetry. Collaboration with engineers and operations will be essential to strengthen security posture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of relevant work experience in network security or related field.
• Experience with SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar, Microsoft Sentinel, Elastic).
• Familiarity with TCP/IP, routing protocols, NetFlow/IPFIX, and OSI layers 1–4; able to review logs and identify anomalies.

Responsibilities

• Support security improvements by identifying gaps and designing secure solutions.
• Collaborate across Operations, Engineering, and Planning to embed secure design patterns.
• Lead strategic security technical challenges and complex investigations with engineers.
• Provide incident analysis during active incidents and contribute to root cause reports.
• Perform regular security control assessments to close gaps found during hunts.
• Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
