Job summary

GBH is seeking a Network Engineer to operate, maintain, and improve its enterprise network across corporate, broadcast, and cloud environments. The role emphasizes reliability, security, and performance on Arista, Fortinet, and Cisco technologies, with hands-on troubleshooting and project work.

You will collaborate with IT, Broadcast Engineering, and Production Operations, participate in on-call rotations, and ensure connectivity for wired, wireless, VPN, and cloud services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the availability, performance, and security of GBH's wired, wireless, WAN, VPN, and cloud-connected network infrastructure.
• Monitor network health, performance metrics, and alerting systems; proactively identify and remediate issues before they impact operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, serving as a technical resource for infrastructure-related issues.
• Manage and prioritize network support requests and ticket queues while working closely with end users, broadcast engineers, software developers, and other technology teams.
• Install, configure, test, and support network hardware including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
• Implement network changes and upgrades following established change management practices.
• Support broadcast audio, video, and media-over-IP networking systems.
• Contribute to network design reviews and deployment planning for new services and infrastructure upgrades.
• Create and maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
• Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts following network incidents.
• Assist with network automation, monitoring, and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide support for critical incidents during evenings, weekends, or holidays when necessary.
