Job summary

Smart Start seeks a Network Administrator to support and improve our enterprise network infrastructure. The role focuses on Juniper switching/routing, Palo Alto firewalls, VPN connectivity, and datacenter networking, with exposure to Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, and Hyper-V in production operations.

The candidate will troubleshoot production issues, maintain security, monitor circuits, and collaborate with vendors. A hybrid work model in Grapevine, TX is offered.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on enterprise network experience.
• Strong experience with Juniper networking equipment.
• Strong experience with Palo Alto firewalls.
• Experience with routing, switching, firewalling, VPNs, NAT, segmentation, and high-availability network design.
• Experience troubleshooting complex network issues in production environments.
• Experience supporting multi-site LAN/WAN environments, datacenter connectivity, remote offices, and redundant circuits.
• Experience with packet captures, firewall logs, switch logs, routing tables, and network monitoring tools.
• Experience working with vendors, carriers, and technical support providers.
• Ability to participate in after-hours maintenance and on-call rotation.
• Preferred: Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Hyper-V knowledge; monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG).
• Preferred: certifications such as JNCIA/JNCIS/PCNSE/PCNSA.

Responsibilities

• Manage and troubleshoot Juniper switching and routing infrastructure.
• Manage and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls, including policies and VPNs.
• Support LAN, WAN, datacenter, and remote-site connectivity.
• Troubleshoot production connectivity issues involving firewalls, switches, routers, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, servers, and apps.
• Use logs, captures, and monitoring tools to diagnose issues.
• Monitor network availability, circuit health, firewall performance, and VPNs.
• Plan network changes with maintenance windows, validation, and rollback steps.
• Assist with security improvements, vulnerability remediation, and segmentation.
• Collaborate with vendors/carriers on circuit issues and escalations.
• Maintain network diagrams, IP addressing, firewall rules, VPN documentation, circuit records, and procedures.
• Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned by IT Director.
