Job summary

George Mason University is seeking a Network & Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, secure, operate, and document the network and cloud infrastructure that supports PIA facilities and mission activities.

The Engineer will coordinate with Mason ITS, cybersecurity offices, internet carriers, facilities teams, cloud vendors, and sponsor-designated security personnel to ensure reliable internet access, segmented networks, and AWS-based unclassified/IL2 workloads.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in IT, CS, cybersecurity, or related field.
Significant experience with enterprise networks, cloud platforms, or hybrid infrastructure.
Experience configuring network devices, firewalls, wireless networks, VPNs, and cloud resources.
Experience documenting architectures, procedures, and incident/change activity.
Ability to collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, vendors, and end users.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, configure, and maintain site network infrastructure.
Architect and administer AWS cloud environments for IL2 workloads.
Operate security and reliability controls, vulnerability management, incident response coordination.
Coordinate work with Mason ITS, cybersecurity offices, carriers, vendors, and sponsor personnel.
Maintain network diagrams, inventories, SOPs, runbooks, and provide guidance to interns and users.
