Job summary

Hawaii Medical Service Association is seeking a National Account Consultant to manage small national employer groups and consultants, primarily by phone and email, to protect market share and drive in-force growth.

The role requires presenting HMSA programs and options, developing relationships with decision makers, and coordinating rate renewal and retention activities. A Hawaii license and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated outstanding customer service skills.
• Demonstrated strong planning and organization skills.
• Demonstrated strong decision‑making and problem analysis skills.
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Active license with the state Hawaii DCCA; or pass all four sections of the state licensing examination within three months of hire date.
• Having an active license to sell Health, Life and Group Insurance products in Hawaii is a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Use account data and critical thinking to align customer goals with HMSA's products and services.
• Achieve membership goals, quotas and minimum activity standards.
• Manage RFI and RFP responses with accuracy and timeliness.
• Promote HMSA's products through regular contact via phone and email with local and mainland contacts.
• Research information to understand HMSA position on customer issues and negotiate outcomes.
• Serve as the primary contact for all account service issues.
• Discuss strategic issues with AMS Leadership and offer recommended solutions.
• Develop relationships with groups and consultants to resolve issues and provide innovative solutions.
• Educate employer groups on HMSA programs and industry trends affecting cost and utilization.
• Maintain timely records of all activity in Salesforce and report on proposals and major issues.
