Job summary

Crawford & Company in Pittsburgh is seeking an experienced claims adjuster for a hybrid role combining remote work with occasional on-site investigations and driving responsibilities.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of related adjusting experience and proven ability to handle multiple lines of claims, with strong investigation, negotiation, and documentation skills. A college degree and state licensing are preferred, and travel or on-call hours may be required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years insurance adjusting experience with experience in each of at least two lines of business (casualty, property, or workers' compensation).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Personal computer, typing and keyboarding skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate coverage, liability, compensability and damages with all parties involved in a claim.
• Interview claimants and witnesses; establish reserves; obtain and interpret medical and official reports; attend mediations or hearings.
• Negotiate and settle claims; set reserves; manage litigation within authority by requesting demands and offers.
• May present evidence at legal proceedings.
• Provide filings with regulatory agencies, disposing of salvage and pursuing subrogation when appropriate.
• Prepare reports by collecting and summarizing information required by the client and obtained through investigation.
• Self-starter capable of working independently.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education in multiple lines of business.
• Maintain acceptable product quality through compliance with service standards and internal quality control initiatives.
• Uphold and project the corporate image by participating in industry organizations and functions.
• Ability to multi-task in a time-sensitive environment and handle job responsibilities with urgency.
• Upholds the Crawford Code of Business Conduct at all times.
• Participates in special projects or performs duties in other areas as requested.
