Job summary

Evonik is seeking a Microbiology Technician to conduct routine testing and data analysis of utilities, raw materials, facilities and equipment. Responsibilities include environmental monitoring, utilities testing, and GMP-compliant documentation in a dynamic lab setting.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in microbiology or related field, 1+ year of relevant experience, and proficiency with microbiology methods and MIMS data systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biological sciences, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience in clinical, academic, or industrial/pharmaceutical microbiology laboratories preferred.
• Experience in microbiological assays and testing.
• GLP and GMP proficiency preferred.
• Excellent written, verbal communication, organizational and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and databases.
• Ability to use a respirator and work with microorganisms and hot liquids.

Responsibilities

• Environmental Monitoring: monitor classified areas using active/passive air sampling and swab/RODAC methods; trend data to detect anomalies and characterize microflora.
• Utilities testing: test city water, pre-treat water, clean steam and Water for Injection for microbial counts and endotoxins; assess nitrogen and process air.
• Identify microorganisms using classical microbiological methods.
• Perform validation activities including bioburden recovery and endotoxin testing.
• Data entry into Microbiology Information Management Systems (MIMS).
• Maintain GMP-compliant documentation and ensure forms are complete for approval.
