Job summary

PhenoPath Laboratories, a Quest Diagnostics Company, seeks a Medical Director for our Clinical Pathology laboratory in Seattle, with coverage at satellite labs as needed. This hybrid role combines clinical directorship with general surgical pathology services.

The ideal candidate holds an MD/DO with Board Certification in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology, a WA medical license, and 3–5+ years of surgical pathology sign-out experience, including GI and breast cases.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with Board Certification in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology and an unrestricted Washington State medical license.
• 3–5+ years post-residency surgical pathology sign-out experience in inpatient/outpatient settings, with GI and breast biopsy sign-out emphasis.
• Subspecialty fellowship training/experience in GI, GYN, Breast, Soft Tissue, GU, Head & Neck, Hematopathology or Cytopathology is a plus.
• Experience supervising high complexity testing and willingness to participate in CME and clinical care committees.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site pathologist coverage at two clinic sites in Seattle, WA and Everett, WA.
• General surgical sign-out for GI, breast, GU, including IHC, with emphasis on GI and breast biopsies.
• Perform frozen section diagnoses and peripheral blood smear evaluations.
• Collaborate with PhenoPath and Optum staff; coordinate coverage and review difficult cases.
• Stay current with literature; participate in committees and contribute to informational materials.
• Maintain licensing/accreditation and ensure confidentiality of patient data and lab operations.
• Contribute to QA/QI activities and oversee reference lab selection and testing development as needed.
