Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Medical Director for our Seattle, WA Clinical Pathology lab. This hybrid leadership role combines clinical directorship with anatomic pathology sign-out at two Optum Washington sites.

The successful candidate will oversee medical quality, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with PhenoPath teams, while maintaining licensure, CME participation, and guiding patient care through advanced pathology services.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required and board certified in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology.
• Unrestricted Washington State Medical License or ability to obtain.
• Experience supervising high complexity testing in inpatient and/or outpatient lab.
• 3–5+ years post-residency surgical pathology sign-out with GI and breast focus.
• Subspecialty fellowship in GI, GYN, Breast, Soft Tissue, GU, Head/Neck, Hematopathology or Cytopathology a plus.
• Willingness to participate in clinical care committees and tumor boards.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site pathologist coverage at two clinic sites in Seattle, WA and Everett, WA.
• General surgical sign-out including GI, breast, GU, and IHC with emphasis on GI and breast biopsies.
• Frozen section diagnoses and peripheral blood smear evaluations.
• Coordinate with PhenoPath and Optum staff; share clinical pathology call and ensure service coverage.
• Participate in PhenoPath committees and develop informational materials.
• Maintain licensure/accreditation and CME activities; ensure confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
