Job summary

Mountains Community Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Certified Coding Specialist to join our team and ensure accurate medical coding across hospital and outpatient services. You will review records, assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes, and support documentation improvement and audits.

The role requires active AHIMA or AAPC credentials, 3+ years of coding experience, and familiarity with rural healthcare settings.

Qualifications

• Active AHIMA or AAPC credentialing required.
• Minimum 3+ years of medical coding experience.
• Experience in rural or critical access settings preferred.
• Ability to interpret documentation and apply ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review records for documentation accuracy and coding requirements.
• Assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS codes per guidelines.
• Code inpatient and outpatient encounters including ED, swing bed, and RHC.
• Review and reconcile charges for accurate billing and reimbursement.
• Collaborate with HIM, clinical staff, and billing to resolve coding discrepancies.
• Support audits, compliance initiatives, and education activities.
