Job summary

Boston Government Services, LLC. is seeking a Mechanical Designer for a full-time hybrid role based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

The position focuses on developing detailed mechanical designs and 3D models using SolidWorks, creating fabrication drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation for equipment solutions. The role requires strong knowledge of design for manufacturability, ability to collaborate with engineers and fabricators, and experience in prototype development and testing.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Drafting, or related.
• SolidWorks expert level proficiency.
• Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Experience creating fabrication drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
• U.S. Citizenship and eligible for security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed mechanical designs and 3D models using SolidWorks.
• Create fabrication drawings, assemblies, BOMs, and technical documentation.
• Apply design for manufacturability (DFM) to optimize for fabrication, assembly, and cost.
• Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and multidisciplinary teams to develop equipment solutions.
• Support prototype development, fabrication, testing, and design modifications.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, DOE requirements, and industry best practices.
