Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and build factory test solutions for our advanced products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality hardware designs and successful project execution.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will work on a hybrid schedule and contribute to the development of factory test equipment, including fixture design, thermal and motion controls, and validation activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 2 or more years of experience in mechanical design and documentation.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and methodologies.
• Proficiency in using design tools and software.
• Experience with hardware testing and validation.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support design efforts for test equipment including fixture design, motion and thermal controls.
• Apply troubleshooting to Factory Test Equipment (FTE).
• Analyze hardware failures with Hardware Engineering to identify failure modes.
• Translate troubleshooting into design improvements for the FTE.
• Test prototypes and FTE in lab to understand performance.
• Integrate test designs into working factory systems.
• Assist with cost estimates for new design tasks.
• Participate in design reviews for FTE projects.
• Interface with vendors for BOM and parts for prototyping.
• Assist in building and verifying Factory Test Equipment.
• Create engineering documents for the FTE (drawings, specs).
