Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. seeks an Early-Career Mechanical Drafter in Pittsburgh, PA to support water and wastewater projects. You will perform CAD drafting, develop mechanical layouts, piping and equipment plans, and collaborate with engineers from concept through construction.

Hybrid or fully remote options may be available; you will join a detailed design team delivering precise design packages while adhering to drafting standards and company practices.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have an Associate’s Degree in Drafting or a high school diploma with 1+ year CAD drafting experience.
• Knowledge of engineering basics, including sheet organization, topographical data, scales, and coordinate systems.
• Experience using land or aerial surveying/mapping data.
• Experience with mechanical design.
• Experience with the latest AutoCAD releases (required).
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D (required).
• Basic understanding of Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Skype, Adobe PDF, and Windows Explorer (required).
• Strong reasoning, mathematical and geometrical skills.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret red line drawings; strong communication skills (required).
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and driving record for business travel (required).

Responsibilities

• Draft, edit, and finalize technical drawings.
• Operate a CAD computer to develop final drawings.
• Transfer information from an engineering drawing to a final CAD drawing using standard symbols.
• Analyze sketches and notes to determine the best approach for drawings.
• Copy detailed plans and perform non-routine drafting assignments.
• Operate plotter, printer, scanner, and other I/O devices.
• Proofread CAD drawings for accuracy, format, and grammar.
• Participate in CAD standards improvement through the CAD Action Group.
• Collaborate with Geosyntec CADD practitioners to review work.
• Drive to client or project sites as needed.
