Job summary

The Town of Herndon is seeking a creative and organized Marketing Assistant to support social media, digital content, flyers, and the quarterly programs brochure. This hybrid, part-time role reports to the Marketing & Communications Supervisor and offers flexible hours around 6 hours per week.

You'll collaborate on department marketing strategies, help produce engaging materials, and contribute ideas for campaigns. Some on-site event coverage and photo/video support may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience in marketing, communications, or related field.
• Strong written communication and proofreading skills.
• Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Suite, Meta Business Suite, Wrike, Buffer, and Constant Contact.
• Basic graphic design abilities and social media best practices.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
• Occasional onsite work at events.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, coordination, and execution of department marketing strategies.
• Develop content for social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube.
• Design, proofread, and distribute marketing collateral such as flyers and signage.
• Support quarterly Programs & Events Brochure production, coordinating intake and partner marketing support.
• Participate in brainstorm sessions and contribute campaign ideas.
• Support video and photography efforts, including on-site event coverage.
• Coordinate with Marketing & Communications Supervisor to ensure brand consistency and deadlines.
• Maintain organized records of marketing materials via OneDrive or SharePoint.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
