Job summary

American Systems in Washington, DC is seeking a Journeyman Marine Engineer with 3+ years of experience to support the US Coast Guard and our Ship Design Group.

You will assist senior engineers in design and evaluation of marine vessels, review third party modifications, conduct design reviews, and create graphical representations. This hybrid role requires four days in the office and one day remote.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• 3+ years’ marine systems engineering experience; 1 year with MS Office and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in design and evaluation of marine vessels and ship machinery.
• Review third party design modifications to support the US Coast Guard.
• Conduct design reviews and evaluate constructability.
• Create graphical representations of structures and systems.
• Inspect ship equipment or systems.
• Prepare technical reports.
