Job summary

McGuireWoods LLP in Seattle seeks a Docket Specialist to support the firm’s Docketing Risk Management Department. You will handle Federal, State, and local rules, review key dates, and ensure compliance while collaborating with attorneys, paralegals, and court personnel.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in litigation docketing, strong communication, and proficiency with CourtAlert or similar software. A hybrid remote option is available to balance client service with work‑life balance.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in a litigation docket department.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with attorneys and staff.
• Proficiency with CourtAlert or similar docket management software.
• Ability to interpret and manage deadline-related information.
• Interest in using AI tools (e.g., Harvey, Copilot) to support high‑impact work.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction on Federal, State, and local rules of procedure and practice.
• Collaborate with the docketing team on legal research and inquiries using internal tools, PACER, Practical Guidance, and online resources.
• Stay informed on procedural best practices via monthly team meetings and rule changes.
• Collaborate with the application support specialist to maintain and monitor updates of court rules and procedures.
• Monitor court filings and extract sensitive critical dates and modify dates as needed to supplement CourtAlert information.
• Record key documents and deadlines in CourtAlert, calculating procedural due dates according to applicable laws.
• Request Intake Forms and open new cases in CourtAlert.
• Communicate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff about calendared events and any updates to compliance dates in the docketing system.
