Weintraub Tobin, a California law firm with offices in Sacramento and San Francisco, seeks a full-time Litigation Associate (2-6 years) to handle sophisticated cases in all phases of litigation. The role offers a hybrid schedule after 90 days with three days in office and up to two remote days.

The ideal candidate will have a JD, CA Bar admission, and strong research, writing, and advocacy skills, with experience in dispositive motions, depositions, and trial preparation.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active California State Bar membership in good standing.
• 2–6 years of complex general litigation experience.
• Experience drafting and arguing dispositive and non-dispositive motions.
• Experience taking and defending depositions and managing discovery through trial preparation.
• Trial experience preferred.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, client-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Handle litigation matters through all phases, including pre-litigation strategy, pleadings, discovery, law and motion practice, mediation, trial preparation, and post-trial proceedings.
• Draft high-quality pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests and responses, including dispositive motions.
• Participate in conducting and defending depositions, preparing witnesses for depositions and hearings, and respond to written discovery requests.
• Conduct legal research and provide strategic analysis on complex business-related disputes.
• Appear at hearings, case management conferences, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit preparation, witness outlines, and coordination with experts.
• Collaborate closely with partners, senior associates, and clients to develop litigation strategy and manage cases efficiently.
• Prepare matters for mediation and trial, including developing case themes, coordinating key tasks, and collaborating with experts as needed.
• Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and third‑party vendors to advance cases efficiently.
