Job summary

Ray Thomas is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support its Seattle trial and litigation team in handling complex commercial and insurance disputes.

The role offers a hybrid schedule with two in-office days and a 35-hour workweek, emphasizing thorough pleadings, e-filing, and trial preparation within a sophisticated defense practice wart. The successful candidate will manage hearings, deadlines, and client reporting to ensure smooth case progression.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of litigation Legal Assistant or Paralegal experience.
• Defense-side litigation experience strongly preferred.
• Complex commercial or insurance coverage litigation experience is a major plus.
• Hands-on state and federal court filing and e-filing experience required.
• Strong knowledge of court rules, procedures, and litigation deadlines.
• Exceptional proofreading, organization, and attention to detail.
• Experience with iManage or FileSite preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Support a team of trial and litigation attorneys.
• Prepare, proofread, and revise complex pleadings, correspondence, tables of contents, and tables of authorities.
• File documents in state and federal courts using electronic filing systems.
• Manage hearings, briefing schedules, discovery deadlines, depositions, and meetings.
• Assist with trial preparation and case-file organization.
• Handle billing, invoices, client reporting, expenses, and travel arrangements.
