Job summary

Apex Fintech Solutions in Chicago is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to build, implement, and maintain Linux-based application systems within a developing DevOps culture. You will collaborate with teammates to ensure availability, performance, reliability, and security for users and clients.

The role emphasizes deployment and automation using Salt and Ansible, system monitoring, incident response, and proactive maintenance with Kubernetes, Docker, and NoSQL databases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 5+ years in a Linux/Cloud environment with hands-on engineering and administration.
• Experience with VMware, NoSQL databases (MongoDB), containers (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), SAN storage and backups.
• Experience with Git and code management workflows.
• Experience with TCP/IP networking and configuration management tools (Ansible, SaltStack).
• Experience scripting (Python, PowerShell, Shell) to automate operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and continuously improve Linux systems engineering and administration.
• Deploy and automate applications via Salt & Ansible.
• Troubleshoot incidents for Linux systems and events.
• Plan changes with testing to ensure performance and stability.
• Maintain system monitoring with DataDog, LogicMonitor, Sentinel One, SNMP, etc.
