Job summary

Segal McCambridge Singer & Mahoney, Ltd. in Pittsburgh is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our litigation team handling toxic tort, asbestos, and general liability matters in PA, with matters in WV as well.

You will draft and file pleadings, coordinate discovery, manage deadlines, and assist with trial preparation while working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and taking an active role in high-profile cases.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least three years of experience as a legal assistant in civil litigation.
• Working knowledge of Pennsylvania state and federal court procedures, rules, and e-filing.
• Strong understanding of civil litigation processes and legal terminology.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and internet research tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Draft, edit, format, and finalize legal documents including pleadings and motions.
• File and serve documents in PA state and federal courts.
• Maintain attorney calendars and track deadlines.
• Open new matters and manage case documents and discovery.
• Assist with trial preparation and organize exhibits and witness schedules.
• Coordinate attorney travel and meetings.
